| Please remember to download an application form for the new semester and include the membership fee of $15.00. The Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society focuses on recognizing individuals for their academic excellence as well as their involvement in the community, and their commitment to helping others. Alpha Gamma Sigma (AGS) sponsors and coordinates a variety of fund-raisers every year, as well as awarding its own in house scholarships. Each of its members exemplifies leadership, scholarship, and impeccable character. Every year AGS raises thousands of dollars for charity and scholarships. AGS members also attend the annual regional and state conferences; participate in Club Day, Transfer Day, the Major Exploration Faire, and a variety of other Las Positas events and fund-raisers. AGS is also responsible for coordinating the blood drive every year. The members of AGS also coordinate Pizza Nights, Monday through Thursday, and sell snacks and drinks for the night students at Las Positas. If you are new to AGS you should stop by Mr. Taylor's office as quickly as possible so he can explain to you how AGS works and what the benefits may be. Pizza Nights are our biggest fund-raiser, and the primary means of raising money for AGS scholarships. Members may sign up in the student center, Bldg 1700. There is a large calendar on the front of the AGS cabinet, just sign up, and designate NM if you are a new member and have not worked Pizza Night before, P if you are able to pick up pizza, or C if you are a chairperson. We also need donations! Please donate snacks, cookies, chips, coffee, cups, plates, napkins, water, soda, etc to help us with Pizza Nights. You can bring donation to any Pizza night, or leave them in the kitchen of the Teacher's lounge. See the Pizza Night section of the website for more info. Last semester AGS participated in a drive to raise toys for the Children's Hospital in Oakland, accumulating over 470 items! Great job, guys! Items were donated to the hospital on Tuesday, April 24th. For a complete breakdown of all items donated, check out the news page. |
